Louise Irvine is regarded as the world's leading authority on Royal Doulton antiques, having published more than a dozen standard reference books for collectors and countless articles. Her best-selling book The Doulton Lambeth Wares charts the history of this well-known London pottery and features art wares by famous designers, including George Tinworth, Hannah Barlow and Mark Marshall.
Louise has had a long association with the Royal Doulton Company dating back to 1977 when she researched the Doulton Story exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. She initiated the company's International Collectors Club, edited its quarterly magazine for the first ten years, and organized regular exhibitions for the Royal Doulton Gallery in London, many of which also traveled abroad.
With her extensive knowledge of Royal Doulton antiques and collectibles, Louise has often been a guest on TV and radio chat shows around the world and she starred with the well-known actor Patrick Macnee in the video documentary, The Royal Doulton Story. Louise is in great demand as a speaker on Royal Doulton wares and regularly lectures to museums, antique clubs and other special interest groups in Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
Louise regularly speaks at Pascoe and Company’s Collectors Weekends around the USA and hosts the lecture program at the annual Florida Antiques & Gift Expo in January. As well as her many speaking engagements, Louise continues to write for her busy publishing program and she is the contributing editor for Pascoe’s Connoisseur catalog. She also organizes Royal Doulton travel events and Pascoe and Company collectors have enjoyed cruises on the QE2 and the Queen Mary, a South African safari and many tours of the Potteries in the UK.
